HAPPINESS. Oriol F. (2 ESO C)

HAPPINESS

What’s happiness and how can we be happy? That’s a question without a simple answer. It’s like asking: What’s the meaning of life? or Why do toasts always fall butter side down?

The dictionary defines happiness as “that feeling that comes over you when you know life is good and you can't help but smile. It's the opposite of sadness”.

But, what makes us happy? We are all different, and different things make us happy. For example, I am happy when I play basketball, when I am with my friends and family and when the people that I love are happy too. There are many little things that make me happy. For instance, a good dessert after a great meal, a gift for my birthday, for Christmas or just making new friends.

I am not always happy. Sometimes I am sad or angry, but at that moment, if I think about happy moments of my life, with my family or friends, that makes me happy again. So, maybe happiness is a state of mind and we can be happy if we choose to be happy and enjoy what we do in our life.

FRIENDS. Jordi C.(1 BTX B)

Friends

For me the most important thing in a friendship is loyalty and honesty, because I think that if your friend is just in the good moments and not in the moments that you need help or something it is not a true friend. And the same happens with the honesty I think because if my true friends or my best friend don’t tell me the truth they are just like posturers.

One of the things that I can compare to a friendship is a relationship because the most important things are honesty loyalty and the connection between two persons because if the two persons of a friendship don't connect it’s impossible to be friends or true friends because they won’t have themes to talk about and they won’t be friends. It’s really difficult to explain like this so I will use my example.

My best friend as all persons know is Estel and I will explain why Estel is my best friend and the qualities that she brings to me and why our friendship is so strong.

Okay first of all I have to say that Estel and me are two totally different persons with lots of differences but that is one of the things for me that make possible this connection, because if you go with persons that think the same as you in all the things they won’t be able to bring a different perspective of life and for me that’s boring.

The second thing is honesty and loyalty that Estel has with me because I know that she will ever be there trying to help me whatever she can and bringing his opinion about the problem. Also one of the things that Estel brings to me and I’m so thankfully to her is the changes and the change that I cause in me,

I have always thought that if Estel hadn't appeared in my life I wouldn’t be the person who I am today, she changes lots of things of me and it changed me for example to be a better person because in the first years of ESO I let a bit my friendship with Estel and I was going with persons that do bullying to others and were not good for me, but Estel one day saved me saying that she didn't not agree with that so I started changing and I think that it was one of the most important steps in my life because I was so lost and she helped me.

In conclusion a friendship is like a bonsai because we have to take care every day and try to not to lose it  in weeks.

Friends

What is a friend? People have many different opinions about it and there are loads and loads of distinct relationships called “friend” relationships. I do really know what a friend is for me, and now I will try to explain it to you.

A friend is a person with whom you can talk about your feelings and you know that he or her will listen to you and will give you their most sincere opinion about it, always trying to help you or to persuade you to make the right decision about something. A friend is also a person who you can laugh with and who, with his or her company, you’re able to disconnect about your daily problems and have a good time.

I think that you create a friendship with somebody when you spend a long time with this person nearly every day, but I also think that when this friendship is created, you can spread out with the other person and still be friends for a long time. So I think that being separated with someone doesn’t mean you’re not friends anymore (from my own experience).

A friend also treats you well and respects you, although there are some you can joke and sometimes he or she doesn’t respect you, deeply a friend loves you and wants the best for you.

In conclusion, having good friends is one of the most important things in life because they are the ones who can make you laugh in bad times and, I think it’s essential to preserve them well because you know what they say: Who has a friend has a treasure.

A GOOD FRIEND. Èrik E. (1 BTX A)

A friend

If you look for the word “friend” in an English dictionary you will find this definition below, “closely regarded person”. It means that a friend is a considered person who you can trust in. In fact, the dictionary is right but normally a friend is more than a confident person.

A friend, of course, is a very close person to you, reliable, tolerant, and resourceful. He or she should be sensible and helpful with you when you have a problem. The attitude of a real good friend mustn’t be selfish or hesitant with you.

In literature, in almost of the books in the world we can appreciate different types of friends. Personally, if I have to choose a couple of them, I will choose two boys, Bruno and Shmuel. Both are the main characters of the novel, “The boy in the striped pyjamas” whose author is John Boyne.

Bruno is German and he had lived in Berlin before his family moved near a Nazi concentration camp, because of his father’s job. Moreover, Shmuel is a Jew, and he with his family had to go, obliged, to a concentration camp in Auschwitz. Both are innocent children, without prejudices, racism and religion discrimination. They saw each other for the first time on this concentration camp, Bruno was outside playing with his ball and Shmuel was inside, sitting on the dirty floor. He was lonely and upset, because he had lost his family. Bruno tried to cheer him up, and they became good friends. Sadly, the final of this pretty and dreamer friendship is not quite passionate like the beginning.

SAVE OUR PLANET. Laura B. (2 ESO C)

WE HAVE TO SAVE OUR PLANET

Every year there is more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, it’s a greenhouse gas that the cars produce because they use oil to function. The greenhouse gases control the temperature of the Earth, pollute the enviroment and destroy the ozone layer.

The levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are rising and it’s because the people use too many fossil fuels. If the level of carbon dioxide raises a lot, it can produce a serious effect in our planet, the global warming. The higher temperatures will make the polar ice caps melt and the level of the sea will rise. If the level sea rises the cities situated on the coast may disappear and there will be a lot of floods. Global warming may change the climate. If it doesn’t rain there will be droughts.

If we don’t want that this happens, we must save energy. Saving energy is good for us too because we save money.

I propose 9 things to save energy:

1.     We have to use the public transport because if we use it, there will be less cars that produce carbon dioxide and the level of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will fall.
2.      Instead of using public transport to go anywhere, we can go walking or we can go by bike. It’s healthy and it doesn’t pollute.
3.      We have to switch off the light bulbs and the other electrical machines when we don’t need them. Doing that we save energy, money, and we don’t pollute more.
4.      We can use the low consume light bulbs. This is another way to save energy. These light bulbs usually have more durability.
5.      We have to recycle. It helps the environment because we reuse the material and we don’t have to remove too much elements of the Earth.
6.      We have to buy machines of the class A, because it consumes less energy. It’s another way to save energy.
7.      It’s better to use renewable sources because they don’t pollute the environment and it’s a source unlimited that the environment produces.
8.      We can use rechargeable batteries instead of disposable batteries.
9.     Make sure that your dishwasher is full. In that way you save more energy because it wastes the same energy and water washing one or two clothes than a lot.

It’s really important to save energy. No-one wants a world full of pollution and diseases.

FRIENDS Genís F. (2 BTX A)

Friends

While being a teenager one of the most important things in life are friends. For some people, their friends are more important than their grades or even more important than their family! However, do we really know what friends are?

First of all, friends are those who you feel comfortable with. What I mean is that if you enjoy talking with someone or being with him or her is because you share more or less the same ideas and the same interests and this, in my opinion, is the main point of a good friend. For example, I feel very comfortable with Èrik because we are both very interested in politics, culture, history and the Catalan language.

Besides a friend is also someone who you can trust. It seems to me that nowadays most young people are dishonest and they have a pragmatic view of life. They don’t care about ethics and they pretend to seek happiness at a fast way without taking into account the consequences of that. This is why we need honest people around us and people we can trust, these people are friends. For example, Rubén is a good friend because I can explain him all I think and I can be sure he won’t tell them to anyone.

Furthermore, a good friend is someone who is loyal and supportive. My friend Arnau is an example of this because he always supports me and he’s loyal to my ideas. Moreover, he helps me to recover my confidence after a bad experience, and we, as humans, need it so much.

All in all, I believe friends must help each other. Actually a good friend is someone who respects you, someone who supports you in the worst moments, someone who you can trust, someone who is honest and, of course, someone who you feel comfortable with.  In my opinion, if you have all these attributes, you’re a good friend and if you’re, while reading this, thinking about your friends, you’re even a better friend.
