EL COLLELL 2017

I don’t know what  camps have  but always that I go to one I enjoy a lot.

I can say that El Collell is one of the best camps that I did. But, why? Why was el Collell so funny? Activities, friends, instructors? I don’t know but I think joining the three things, camps can be very funny.

Well, but, we start from the beginning. We left  school on Monday 15th at 8:30 a.m. more or less. The travel was very long but was worth it because we don’t know that these 3 days can be the best days of our lives.

When we arrived at El Collell we had breakfast and then the instructors explained us the planning of the three days. Then we went to the rooms and we installed. My partner was Marc G. After it, there was one of the best moments in El Collell. David A., Marc S. and I went to the room of Anna and Martina and a teacher entered and the boys were behind the door and I cracked up and the teacher found us. Due to this we couldn't go to the swimming pool. Then we have lunch and we played some sports before the people went to the swimming pool. At the night we played a nightgame and after we asleep at 12:00.

The second day was very crazy because we went to the adventure land and in the afternoon we did a tournament in the 3x3 field. It was very exciting but finally Josep J., Xavi M. and I won.

The night was the best because all the boys and girls wore their best  T-Shirt and trousers and MUSIC!!! We danced, sang, etc… in the night club.

The last day we rode MTB and after another of the best moments because when we finished  having lunch we started to shout and after we said GOOD BYE El Collell.

"El Collell" Cèlia A. (2 ESO A)

Our trip to “el collell”

On Monday 15th of May, we were  at 8:15 at school to drive to “el Collell”. We wore our backpack, our suitcase and all the clothes and special material with us, like the torch or the suncream…

The driver drove to the house, and we went to the cloisters and all the instructors explained us the daily routine.  After the explanation we made groups of 12-13 people, we could decide these groups but with one condition, they had to be girls and boys mixed in the same group. In my Group we were: Paula L., Nùria M., Lucia B., Gisel.la B, Carlota P., Alia C., Adrià ll., Eric R., Juan B., Max G. And Josep H.

We made a lot of activities but I think that the best moment was when we were at the swimming pool because it was so hot and we couldn’t make the things so good with this high temperaturs. Another moment, we went to a football pitch, it was so hot too … so we made a water war !

Another day we went to an adventure park with zip-lines and climbing activities, it was so funny and interesting but I’m not so fan of the dangerous things because we can get injured or … Another activity was the disco ! it was so funny, enjoyable, emocional and I think that I had never danced like that !

THE BEST MOMENT IN
EL COLLELL

The last days I went to the holidays camp “El Collell”, in Girona with all 2nd of ESO. I did more activities like going to the swimming pool, playing ping-pong, football, table football… but my favourite moment was when I rode on BTT, because it is one of my favourite hobbies.

I rode on BTT with my group and with another. First, we took the helmet and the reflective waistcoat because you must wear this when you go in bicycle. After it, we took the bicycle, filled the canteen and went to the river. We didn’t go all the time down the road because to go to the river you have to cross a way of sand. We had to go to the left side to the road. It wasn't difficult because there weren't  ways up.

Unfortunately, 5 minutes before we arrived at the river, one boy (M. L. ), fell in the ultimate slope, but now he is fine.

When we arrived at the river, we threw the bicycle carefully. We mustn’t swim in the river, only we could get wet. In the river we sunbathed, jumped from rock to another rock and some people played with a dog that was near the river. We stayed at the river 30 minutes. After, we returned to the house of “El Collell”. In the way of sand it wasn’t more rises or slopes, but all the road to return was up.

It was in total more than 8km all the journey. For me it was very funny to ride on a bike, play in the river… and in general all the coexistence it was very funny, too. It was one of the best coexistences that I have ever had.

2BTX students with FCE and CAE

As every year, we want to congratulate our 2BTX students that leave the school with the FCE and with the CAE, some of them.

Thanks to the agreement between the University of Cambridge, ESOL examinations and the Fundació Escola Cristiana de Catalunya they've had the possibility to take the FCE through our school and with better economical facilities. Most of them have taken profit of it!

English is really important in our current society, that's why we are so proud of you all, as you have dedicated part of your free time to preparing the FCE. We are sure it'll be very useful to you.

EDUCATION. Guillem G. (2 ESO C)

Emma Watson : "I’m not going to school just for acadèmics – I wanted to share idees,
to be around people who are passionate about learning"

In this sentence Emma Watson has wisdom because it’s real that we can study what we like and there are people that can’t study what they like.

I think that in this sentece Emma expresses what she likes of persons. For me, it’s the same because I like the clasmates that work in group and I don’t like people that don’t work in group.

Then in her sentece she said “People who are passionate about learning” I think that this is important to work well because if you don’t make an effort you can’t help the class to progress.

Then,  she said “I’m not going to school just for academics” I think that in this part of the sentece she was wrong because there were people that are here because they like school and studying well but there are other people that don’t like studying and don’t work.

But later she said “ I wanted to share idees” I like this part because for me she has wisdom because if you don’t propose idees, questions...  you never clear up your mind. And for me it’s the best part of the sentence because it is what everybody has to do.

Is technology making us lazy and unthealthy? Alba M. (1BTX B)

“Technology is making us all more lazy and unhealthy”. Discuss.

Technological progress is a continuous process, which plays a very important role in our daily lives. However, some people believe that this progress has made us more lazy and unhealthy.

On one hand, technology has brought many advances in areas such as health and communications. Although machines or high technology don’t help people do less work but they do help them complete tasks more quickly, with microwaves, vacuums, and some others. What’s more, machines as well as other technological achievements like Internet have helped humanity do and complete tasks more effectively and in a more enjoyable way.

On the other hand, technology was meant to help society however, in the long run, it is actually hurting society. Children are growing up dependent on computers, cell phones, TV, and video games. Being surrounded by this technology has led children to have a shorter attention span. Technology is so addicting that individuals are neglecting their families to spend more time with their cell phones and laptops. Students are lazier than ever before, using the internet to do the hard work for them. The technology not only affects people in this way, it affects health too. For example, if you have a sedentary life with the time, you will become obese.

All in all, the best way to take a healthy and balanced lifestyle is to give up our unhealthy practices. Let’s admit that most of us, including myself, have a tendency to be either a couch potato, a video game jockey, a laptop lover or some type of maniac. If this behavior is limited to few occasions, it's not serious, however, repeated instances will ruin health, mental well-being and also impact relationships.

EDUCATION. Oriol F. (2 ESO C)

EDUCATION IS THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON
WHICH YOU CAN USE TO CHANGE THE WORLD

If we search in a dictionary the meaning of the word education  it says:

-      “Education is the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life.”

Some people ask what education is and why it is very important. For me education is something that everybody needs. Education is a part of our lives. If you don’t have education you can’t do interesting things and you can’t have a good job so you can’t have things that are necessary to live, like food. Some people who have the opportunity to learn and go to school say that it is very boring, but we must think that we are very lucky because people in poor countries can’t have education. Or if they have that opportunity, it is not so easy because school can be very far and it may be difficult to get there.

If you can go to school and learn things, be happy and enjoy it because not everybody can.

I think that what Nelson Mandela means with this sentence is that education is the best way to be successful, to make a positive contribution to the world, so everybody should have access to education. We are the future so we have to be prepared for anything that may happen.

EDUCATION. Marina F. (2 ESO C)

MALALA’S MESSAGE:
" One child, one teacher, one book, one pen
can change the world!

To understand Malala story and her message, we need to know a little about her and her life.

Malala is a girl who was shot by Taliban group.

Taliban is a political-military group, which is against the equality between women and men, and they are against the education, (girl’s education specially).

One day Malala went to school as usually, and Taliban group shot at her and other girls. This group killed teachers too.

Malala was injured in her left part of her head, and she was nearly to die.

Her story was known by the international society: A girl who went to school because she wanted to study was shot by Taliban group, and without any intention, Malala turned into a heroine. A heroine because she put risk in her life defending her beliefs.

On the one hand her belief means the equality between women and men as I say before, but on the other hand it means the right of every body to learn and to have an education.

To have an education means have the opportunity to know a lot of things in different topics and points of view, and give to us the opportunity to create and choose our own future as you want and as you decide.

Malala won the Nobel Peace prize, because she is an example for everybody, and despite the fact she was a teenager, she was admired by all the world, including European politicians.

Malala transmits us that studying, reading, knowledge and culture in general are the best options to understand and change the world, and give us the opportunity to create our own ideas and selections. Moreover, she transmits too that knowledge must not be and option or a privilege, knowledge and culture must be a right equal to everybody.

MY OPINION ABOUT EDUCATION

Hi! I’m Queralt and now I am doing second of the Secondary Obligation, and this is my opinion about education in my school and the school of the childrens of Gulu, China.

Since I started school I have always liked it ... however, getting up early is not what I like very much. I've always liked learning about our planet, different cultures, religions, styles, tastes from around the world there is the school where I learn all these things.

I think it's important to have a good education, being with people who are always with you in your growth as a person, as teachers and colleagues who always get along. For this reason it is right that children who live in towns or cities in poorness do not go up to have a good education and someone to help them grow both in knowledge for the future to help their people their family and have the future childIX all of us, as individuals, must learn that they can change the course of their people.

It’s also right that while we have access to everything you want easily, they have to go through dangerous places, or unsafe for the life of a child or an adult himself.

The sentence of Nelson Mandela in my project is absolutely right around the world, Education is the best weapon to change the world, especially because children are the future and are intended to try to at least change the world.

The hidden power of a smile. Paula M. (1 BTX B)

INTERVIEW TO RON GUTMAN

P: Good morning Mr. Gutman and thank you for letting us steal some of your precious time to ask you some questions our readers have written us via twitter about your Ted talk .

R: It is my pleasure.

P: Let’s start then. Many of us were curious about how this project had started. Why did you get interested in this?

R: It all started at Stanford’s university as I was a graduate student there, when I organized a multidisciplinary group of also other graduated students to research ways to make people live happier. Also, as my vocation has always been making everyone happy I try to use science to make it possible.

P: How good is smiling?

R: Well when we think about it we just expect to feel good in the instant while we are doing it, not being conscious that in a long term time, we will also feel the advantages of it, as people who have smiled many times in their lives, use to live longer.

P: Is it all real science?

R: It may be difficult to believe that a player’s smile can predict how long he will live, but it’s proved by statistics, and it seems quite logical that people who live happier live more! Being positive about life and sharing some smiles with other people fills our heart.

P: What was the objective of this talk?

R: My objective was simple. Letting people know how powerful is the act of smiling and how easy it is for us to do it. In summary, the advantages that provides something as simple as smiling, a thing which costs us no effort.

P: Why do adults smile less than children?

R: Children search for the good in everything while the adults are always looking for the negative part. We spend too much time thinking why we should smile, when we should just do it.

P: That’s all for today. Thank you again, this time for your dedication on making everyone happier and we hope you are lucky in your life with your future projects! We’ll keep an eye on you.

R: Anytime.
