MY BUCKET LIST Yanzhu C. (4ESO)

BUCKET LIST
11 Things to do before turning 30

1 Travel somewhere without planning. I want to go to an unknown place and get lost. Explore around and improvise. It may sound ridiculous at first, but it can teach you to go with the flow and not to control everything. I’ve heard that sometimes getting lost turns out to be the best part of a trip. Even if it is in your own city, there’s always a corner you haven’t seen.

2 Learn how to play an instrument. What happened to those piano lessons I used to take? Well, in the past they stayed. I would love to be able to take a guitar and start playing notes out of nowhere. Or, what about learning how to play your favorite song? That would be insane. I definitely need to shake the dust off of my keyboard and move it out of the loft.

3 Pull an all-nighter at a club. I don’t have any explanation for this. I think going out with friends and partying at a club all night is a must, at least once in your life. At the end of it, you won’t even have the energy to take your pants off, but you will have the deepest and soundest sleep, I assure you.

4 Travel with a charity to help those in need. I believe that spending a summer in Africa, for example, helping people in terrible living conditions would change me, and almost everyone, for the better. Instead of spending three months by the pool, I’d be helping hundreds of people to have a better life. Because every contribution counts.

5 Gamble at a casino. There is something about gambling that makes me want to try it. Maybe it is the risk of not being able to predict what is going to happen. Or maybe it is the attraction of the uncertain. I have this hunch, though, that makes me feel that the outcome will be so bad that I will just want to stick with bingo.

6 Start collecting something. Have you imagined those nerdy people in movies that collect the weirdest stuff? Then, you’ve thought right. I think I will start collecting something odd, just to see the reaction on people’s faces. It must be hilarious. And, also, I think it will be really cool when I’m older and I look back to where and how I got those objects.

7 Ride a camel. I don’t have any reasonable justification for this. It’s just a random experience I want to live. Camels are so underrated. Getting on top of an elephant would be awesome, too. Fingers crossed so they don’t get extinct.

8 Eat at one of the world’s best restaurants. Can you imagine what the food must taste like? Heaven, that’s the answer. I’ll make sure to get the best thing on the menu. I should start saving up now if I’m going to splurge on this.

9 Watch a meteor shower. As a citizen of a crowded city like Barcelona, I don’t have a star-filled sky to sleep under. Watching a meteor shower must be magical. Let’s not forget that I would have beautiful images for my lock screen.

10 Get a puppy Ever since I was a little fat ball I’ve wanted a dog. I’m determined I will get a dog the second I move out of my parents’ house. Luckily, I will have become independent by then.

11 Watch a 12+ hours movie or TV series marathon. There are so many good TV series out there that I could watch for hours. Actually, I admit. I’ve spent way too much time in front of my laptop watching Netflix. But now, that the new Star Wars movie is coming out I will maybe be able to check this off the list.

MY BUCKET LIST Maria M. (4 ESO)

MY BUCKET LIST: 5 things I want to do before I am 30

Have you ever thought of what you have to do before you die? Things that are not essential for you to live, but if you achieved them, they would satisfy you the most. To be honest, I haven’t thought about them. I have probably ever said, “I need to do this sometime”, but I’ve never made a list. Now I have to do it, to write 5 things I want to do before I’m 30… but 30 feel so, so, so far and different!

1.     The first thing I want to do is writing and publishing a book. I want it to be personal and self-made, so I think that I will recollect some poems and short texts written during my life, sharing my feelings and thoughts in a way that I absolutely love.
2.     I want to live one year abroad, doing an Erasmus or just move to a new city. I would love to live such an amazing experience like that. I would have the chance of discovering new places, changing my daily life, meeting people and learning things about other cultures.
3.     I have to add to this list learning and being able to talk at least 5 different languages: Catalan, Spanish, English, German and French. The reason is that I love communication and I think that it is essential for me to live, so I want to be able to communicate and talk to as many people as I can.
4.     I also want to help people in some way, no matter if it is volunteering, teaching, or donating blood. It’s like I want to contribute my grain of sand to do something about the people who don’t have as many facilities as we got and try to help them giving facilities.
5.     Finally travelling and discovering all the places I can, because there are many unbelievable places in Earth that I need to visit sometime such as India, Japan, Canada, Brazil… I really want to discover these countries and their hidden but magic places.
I want to do more things in my life, but I really don’t know which ones! I don’t think I can plan all of my life and follow this “plan” always. However, I listed some of my goals in life. I have to say that I’ve already accomplished some of them and lived some of the best moments ever, but I have a lot to do since now.

I’ll save this writing to check if I achieve my goals in 15 years!

BEST MATCH EVER. Jan R. (2ESO)

THE BEST MATCH I’VE EVER BEEN TO

The best match I’ve ever been to was three years

ago in Camp Nou, it was a match between Barça and Getafe.

I went to the match with a placard of TER STEGEN.

When I arrived at Camp Nou I saw a lot of people in the grandstands. When the Barça goalskeeper started the warm up exercises all the people started to shout.

I took my placard and all the people were asking to me what was the meaning of the placard because it was in German.

The placard said “ TER STEGEN wir lieben dich” that means that we love him.

When Ter Stegen finished the warm up, he came to me and gave his gloves to me. All the people in my zone came to me to take some photos with the gloves. I thought if I allowed them to take photos and I allowed them.

When I arrived in my house I saw a video of me on TV.

MY IDEAL SOCITY Genís F. (2 BTX A)

Ideal society
In the last five days, we’ve been spectators of a pathetic show that has amazed the global press. In our country there’s a majority who want to vote (if you don’t believe me, just check the results of the last Catalan elections and the political position of each party regarding the referendum) if our nation has to become independent from Spain. Our government, with a secessionist absolute majority (72 seats out of 135), convened the referendum for the first of October of this year. What happened next was simply surrealist. Almost 900 people who wanted to vote peacefully, including children, women and old people, were brutally injured by the Spanish paramilitary police. All this happened in, according to the EU or the USA, an example of democracy in Western Europe. Soon I realized that we don’t live in an ideal society. So, I asked to myself with sadness and hope: How would an ideal society look like?

I don’t want to build on this paper a utopian society which would be unnatural for human’s behaviour. I just want to draw a better society than the one we have nowadays in our country and, to do that, I would focus in the two main points in a society: the economical and the political system.

Spain is an economic miracle of capitalism; in the 60s and 70s Spain transformed its economy from a backward one in Europe to a developed world’s economy focused on industry and tourism. Catalonia is the industrial centre of Spain and since the Olympic Games of Barcelona it has become one of the world major centres of tourism, technology and globalization. Despite this, Spain suffers from the main problems of the wild capitalism it practices: an extremely high unemployment and a widening gap between rich people and poor people, which is destroying the middle class, an important characteristic of a prosperous society.

To solve this, Spain has to change its oligarchic-based economy (ÍBEX 35) and its wild capitalist practices. To change our oligarchic economic system we can be inspired by Germany, which promotes little businesses and start-ups that empower people and make them more productive. Additionally, a dense business ecosystem, like the German one, relaxes the state funds and investments in employment, which are mainly done by these little businesses which compete with each other in a prosperous competitive and very productive economy. The result? Germany is the third largest exporter in the world (only after China and the USA, two countries which are far more populated than the European one) and it has an unemployment of 5,6%.

Otherwise, to reduce its economic disparities a state can mirror in the example of France. France is a state-based economy with a very high minimum salary, a high unemployed payment and a very strong welfare state. France has one of the lowest inner regional disparities in Europe and in the world.

The other main point to achieve an ideal society is to have a good political system. In Spain we have a Parliamentary Monarchy that is really inefficient. The head of state in Spain is a king, who has never been elected and who is not selected by a meritocratic system either, but only because he’s the son of the former king who was friend of a bloody dictator who ruled Spain for 36 dark years. On the other hand, it’s not true that any Republic would be cheaper than the monarchy, as many people in Spain assume. The presidential salary in Spain is lower than the one in most of our neighbour states. Moreover, most Republics also have to pay a chief of state different than the president, the Prime Minister. Salaries of the Prime Ministers all over Europe are higher than the Spanish King’s one. The reason why it’s preferable a Republic than a Monarchy is that the first option is far more efficient, democratic, modern and, in the Spanish case, it’s simply much more worthy for our grandparent’s memory.

To sum up, an ideal society would be a Republic with a dense little business atmosphere despite conserving an interventionist system with a strong social security system to prevent high income disparities. If the state is a plurinational one it should recognize the right of self-determination of its nations. Spain is still far away from the ideal society I have exposed and it’s every day further from it. So, Catalan people are right when we say that if we have the chance to start a new country all the way from the start we shouldn’t miss out it. We wish a state where police defends its citizens and it doesn’t attack them.

Despite the Spanish police violence, the “yes” option won in the referendum, so the government will soon proclaim independence. Our independence won’t be all problems’ solution, but it will be an opened door to achieve the ideal society we all wish. Now it’s the time to declare our independence. I would just say what Nike’s advert said: “Just DUI!” or something like that.

FRIENDSHIP. Maria M. (4ESO)

“Whatever you do in this life, it's not legendary, unless your friends are there to see it.”

I haven’t looked for a quote on Google or Tumblr, not even in Pinterest. Once you said we needed a title (which had to be a quote) for our wonderful composition about friendship, this sentence came to my mind. I know I could have looked for one that probably would be more common or more likely to an “Instagram quote”, the typical sentence you read above a photo of two friends, but I had to find one with a special meaning. That’s it. Without your friends, there’s no way something becomes legendary! When you share these moments with them, the things are legendary.

My quote is from the TV series “How I met your mother”.  I think you know what this series is about, but in case you don’t, it’s about Ted explaining all the story of how did he meet the mother of his children. The point is that he is really explaining that special relation he had with his friends, which I give you my word, is a true friendship. The quote I have chosen is said by Barney on the 9th season, in an episode called “Sunrise”.

Now let’s talk about the friendship. I don’t feel like there’s a “friends-code”. I mean, there are no “written” rules for choosing friends, or at least that is not my case. I don’t feel the need of accomplish some requirements to be the friend of someone. I find it so unpleasant! You have to be yourself, and to live friendships as you really feel. In my opinion, every friendship is different and people have their own way to make it special.

In addition, that’s probably the reason why I don’t like the term “best” friends. What does to have a bestie means? Are you supposed to privilege them on your other friends? Do they mean more than the others do? Every one of my friends is important, they mean a lot to me. If they are truly friends, I can count on them. I don’t like to feel “attached” to a particular person… There are times when you understand yourself better with some people, and there are times that it happens with other. So you are constantly changing and growing, and sometimes you feel better with some particular friends, just because you find yourself there. All my friends are my “besties” for me.

Moreover, some people are special to me. And I’ll explain it: we all have some special people in our lives. They won’t necessary be your age. In fact, they can be many years older than you. I’m referring to those people you can’t know exactly why but you could spend hours and hours talking, that people that you understand so perfectly. Even if you try to deny it, there’s at least one person in your life that feels like this to you. I don’t know why, they just feel special to me.
Therefore, I can say that for me friendship is unique in each case, and it lets you share amazing emotions with people, and to have many good memories you’ll never forget. Life brings you amazing people who are worth meeting, who help you so much and show many important lessons. So please, don’t give up on people so quickly, because you can miss out on something great.

This is the way I see friendship. It is an emotion, so everyone feels it on their own way, and it’s pretty difficult to show others what it means to you. I just hope it never ends.

BEST PARTY EVER. Joana A. (2ESO)

San Mateo del Gallego

This summer I was in a village next to Zaragoza called San Mateo del Gallego because I’ve got family there.

We went on holidays so there were a lot of parties, especial activities and fair!

The second day was the most important and the traditions never change so first there is a kind of parade with some floats. At the end all the people go in front of the Town Hall to start an eggs war, that’s so disgusting.

When it finishes all the children go down in a kind of river that they call “azequia”, there I lost my flip-flop. At night there was a concert.

The other days were more normal.

It was so funny because it was the first time I was there during 7 or 8 years.

MY IDEAL SOCIETY. Jordi M. (2BTX A)

MY IDEAL SOCIETY

Nowadays, a good society is important  to live in peace, respect and equality.

If I can change who governs in this society I will select the group of politicians who would change the last political system and this group would be obligued to acomplish their promises. In this society the people would vote when they are 18 years and when the government calls together an elections, referendum…

Another important factor is the laws. Today if I could change some laws, I would change the constitution because it is an important law to live in a society.

And finally in this society the freedom of speech is basic, because people need to explain their thoughts, and in 2017 the freedom of speech sometimes still seems illegal.

THE BEST TOWN PARTIES
 I’VE EVER BEEN TO

This summer I went to my town for a week and during the days I did lots of interesting and entertaining things like going with a canoe by the “Duratón” river, doing excursions in woods and mountains, visiting towns and cities like Segovia…and more things. But the best thing I did there was going and enjoying the parties of a town called Cuéllar, and it’s located near  my town. This celebration last eight or nine days but the most important is the last one.

I went the last day with my parents, my grandfather, grandmother my uncle and my aunt. In the morning there was a lot of people and most of them went to see a bull show in the bullring.  I love going to these shows with my grandfather but this day we arrived late. Next to the bullring we ate a very tasty melted chocolate in a food stall.

After having the breakfast we went shopping to different places and it’s great because here in Barcelona there aren’t these shops so I have to take advantage of the situation. Then we reserved a table in a restaurant and normally in all the restaurants they only have fry eggs with meat like blood sausages, sausages, bacon, ribs…. and all this food is delicious but it makes you fat.

We did more things during the day but the best part was at the night after having the dinner. All the people was in the streets dancing, singing and having a lot of fun. There was a concert of great music and suddenly, arrived big groups of people playing instruments, dancing, shouting…and it was strange for me but then my father said to me that this groups are called “ peñas” and there are very typical in Segovia. He told me that when he was young like me he went to one and he met all of his friends there and they did a lot of funny and strange things.

Definitely this was a very good day for me and for my family and I want to repeat it the next summer.

MY IDEAL COUNTRY. Clara T. (2 BTX B)

MY IDEAL COUNTRY

We all know that society is very complex as well as creating a government which is able to manage it and all its problems. Everyone has a different opinion of how a nation should be organized or who should rule it, but here's my point of view according to what I have learnt from my own country and many others that have a great influence in today's world:

First of all, I thik that the ideal form of government would be a representative republic. The reason why I think this is the best way to rule a country it's because the people choose whoever they think that is responsible enough to make the right decisions for them and since it's the people who choose them they can also take their power away and give it to someone else if they see they made a mistake with the president. Also I chose a republic because I don't think that a monarchy is necessary for a country. Maybe a country that has had a monarchy for centuries might want to keep it, but since this is just an ideal society I'm writing this thinking of a nation that has just been created. In this country there should be elections every 5 years, but all the members of the government would be able to express their opinion on the current president at any time.

Secondly, the government should make a huge investment in education, healthcare and welfare state. The reason why I think that these are the most important ones is that they are basic to create a nation where people has opportunities to develop their life without the risk of getting a disease and not being able to cure it and in the case of someone not being able to work to not become poor. Of course taxes wouldn't be as low as the citizens would like to but it would all be worth it since it would all be for their well being. I think i should highlight the fact that education should be one of the biggest investments. I understand that everyone wants to take part in politics and the decision-making process of the country, but I also think that it's unfair the fact that someone with no studies' vote counts as much as someone who has a PhD in political sciences' vote. So to make it fair for all citizens, I think there should be more programs for people to learn about the situation of their country, the parties they can choose, but most importantly, give them information about politics in general for them to have an idea of which party is the best for them as well as creating an exam that all candidates to the presidency have to take to show they have the right knowledge in order to become president. These programs could easly be influenced by parties, that's why I think it should be alien to the government and give an objective point of view.

Another important affair I think I should talk about is the economy. It's very complex to talk about the economic plan of a nation since it is also affected by the other countries, but in my opinion, the easiest way of making a country economically successful is by a planned capitalist system. A market capitalism was an option that I also had in mind but if there is no one ruling the market but the market itself it is harder for small bussineses to start growing. In a planned capitalism the government can break monopolies and help small bussineses that are just starting grow faster. A communist system, since it's often flooded with corruption, would make almost all citizens poor with a few elites that control all the money. In the case that corruption wasn't a problem in a communist country, I would still think it wouldn't be the best idea for my ideal nation since there would be no chance for people to develop their bussineses, and market incentives is what I'm looking for in order to make the country financially develop.

Finally I would like to talk about the rights of the people. Everyone should be free to express their opinion as long as they do it in a respectful way. Everyone has the right to choose the religion or ideologies they want to follow and the government should never take this right away from the people. In order to create a society where everyone is as happy as they can be they have to be able to believe in whatever they want and without being discriminated by other people with different beliefs.

So to conclude, a country where people are free to believe in what they want, have the right to vote for a president who is academically qualified to rule a country, where education plays a bigger role in society and the government prevents monopolies from big companies to form is my ideal country.

MY IDEAL SOCIETY. Toni A. (2 BTX A)

MY IDEAL SOCIETY

These days we are living are giving to us the chance of thinking about what is a good society that respects the rights of all its citizens and what it isn’t. I have to say that the images that unfortunately we’re seeing in the media are far to belong to anything near from my ideal society. Instead of this Spain that fights democracy with rubber bullets and beatings I propose a new republic where the people will be equal, with no richness, no poorness, no fear, no hate, no imposed religion, no homophobia, no xenophobia and no violence against the weak.

First of all, my republic will be governed by a president and a prime minister elected through a direct democracy, I mean nothing of choosing the most important person of our country in a closed room.  It will be an institution that will process laws, (El Parlament de La República) formed by 135 deputies elected of course by the citizens, this institution will select the supreme judges of the nations. The citizens over eighteen years old will vote one time their representatives for three years. Of course slavery won’t be allowed in our Republic.

In my opinion we have good laws (in Catalonia), and in this new republic the laws from Spain will be automatically banned, so it is not a big problem because we have a good base to begin. It’s important to regulate the traffic of soft drugs, because it is proved that banning them has not worked, and also create a big law to defend the rights of refugees in our country.

About capitalism or communism, I think that both extremes are bad, I suggest that being a socialist society, which ensures that nobody will live in poorness or without happiness, is the best option to improve us as nation.

The fair taxes in my new republic will be about 10-25% about your complete wealth, paying good taxes isn’t necessary bad, with this you ensure having a god welfare and a good public healthcare for everyone, rich or poor. We have good universities and it’s a shame that nowadays some young people can’t pay the access to them because the high prizes and absence of true helps.

I think that making happier communities is the key to obtain a good country that allows its citizens to live in peace, respect, love and democracy.
