HOW TO WRITE A GOOD COMPOSITON Pol P. (2 BTX B)

How can I write a good essay?

Writing an essay is a very common work that you will need for many different situations, which sometimes can decide important things. For example, it can be the key for whether you get a scholarship, a job, a credit… or not. So here’s the important question: what do I need to do to write a good essay?

Well, first of all your text has to be united and have a general sense. It has to be divided in three different parts: introduction, development and conclusion. So when you look at your essay you can perfectly distinct these three parts, and every part of it has to be related to a common topic. Moreover, you have to “answer” in some way the question that the reader has. You have to wonder: why would the reader read my essay? What would he/she expect to get of that? And in the conclusion you have to finally answer these questions which have to be previously developed in the development part.

The other essential tip to write a good essay is not a formal or a structure issue. It’s about you. You have to be confident about what you are writing and truly believe on it, because if you don’t the reader won’t do it either. So you have to find the sense on what you’re writing and really know and understand what you’re saying.

With these two main tips you will be able to write a good, formal essay and grab your reader’s attention until the end.

HOW TO IMPROVE OUR WRITINGS Genís F. (2 BTX A)

How can I improve my writing?

Last week our teacher returned us our English exams. The grades were generally very high and the teacher was proud of our improvement. However, she was surprised of the compositions we’d done on the exams.

According to her, in all English compositions we’re continuously repeating the same mistakes, which are often as absurd as creative our imagination is. So, the teacher decided to dedicate a class to talking about it because we can’t go on in this every day more competitive academic world committing such an amount of faults. When that class was coming to an end, she proposed us to write a composition about how to write a composition (sorry for the redundancy. Do you see? We shouldn’t write like this on a composition). So, she suggested to us to make a composition about how we could improve it on an exam or at any of our weekly wonderful compositions.

First of all, I think the best way of improving how we write a composition is bettering our basic skills like vocabulary or grammar. I really consider it to be necessary to improve it because almost every word you write on a composition is related to vocabulary or to grammar and, although we’ve been studying all this for a long time now, we still lack of the quality required in the best writings.

Furthermore, we need to focus on concrete aspects too. We should avoid adding sentences to a paragraph if they are not related with its topic because it makes incoherent the resulting text. So, we shouldn’t forget to expand our topic on every sentence we write.

Otherwise, it’s also very important to make a good introduction because it’s the first contact the reader has with the writing, so it’s decisive to seduce her or him from the beginning. I really think that the introduction serves as a general outline of the essay but I don’t think we should introduce on it the aspects of every paragraph. What I consider is that we should write about the global topic of the composition starting with a topic sentence. I mean we should begin the introduction (and, therefore, the composition) with an interesting situation that’s happened to us and that has leaded us to write the essay. Well, at least, it’s one of the tricks I use.

Finally, the conclusion should be a very short synthesis of the writing which can include, at the very end, a reflexive statement that makes you think about the essay’s topic even when you’ve finished reading the composition. So, let’s try it.

To sum up, to write a nice essay we need to enlarge our knowledge of vocabulary and to improve our grammar skills, we should be coherent and we should be continuously advancing with the topic, we should start the writing with an introduction that begins with a topic sentence and finishes with an interesting global outline of the composition, and, finally, we should finish our text with a synthetic conclusion like this. At the end of the day, a composition is a chance of expressing our ideas, our opinions or our worries. So, in my opinion, it’s very important to be skilful when we want to express something because, otherwise, we’ll be always silent at society’s eyes.

HOW TO IMPROVE OUR WRITINGS Guillem B. (2 BTX B)

How can we improve our writing? If you want to get better at something,
you have to practice, and writing is not an exception. If you follow this guideline,
you will not only lose the fear of being left blank in an exam, but you will also make
you raise more points in the exams. So, keep writing. This will help you keep improving.

First of all, make sure you’re clear on the concepts you’re writing about.
I mean, think, if you can’t explain it to a child, it means that it is not well written.
This will help you to think about the ideas to put on the writing, to imagine
what you are going to say before writing it to see if it is understood or not.

Secondly, our sentences have to be shorter, less complicated sentences
because then it’s easier to read and it sounds more confident.
Watch up for adverbs like; actually, basically, certainly, really or suddenly. I mean,
adverbs, those words that often end in –ly, they’re okay once in a while,
but when you find yourself using them all the time,
you’re probably making weak word choices. So instead of “really bad” write “nasty”.

In conclusion, the more you write, the better you get at it.

HOW TO IMPROVE OUR WRITINGS Marc M. (2 BTX A)

HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR WRITINGS!

Writing a good essay can be very difficult, but after reading this you will be able to improve your writings and to write good ones!

If you have to write a concrete essay you have to follow the instructions. As an example, if you are given an opinion essay where you have to tell your personal thinkings, you have to do it! But if  are not, you cannot do it... It can be penalized!

First of all you need a good title to catch the reader’s attention. You can get inspired by the clickbaits on YouTube (some youtubers are so good at it!)

After deciding an attention grabber title, you have to introduce the writing. You have to enter the topic simple, but not boring. You can start an essay with a question or, for example, introducing a problem and a solution as I have made. It can be as diffciult as breaking the ice with someone you don’t know but don’t worry, practise makes perfection!

You have to develope your essay, and to do this, you have to write a list with the concepts you want to talk about. Then, you have to group them so you can write different paragraphs (this is one of the most important things). The reader will be able to read it better if it is divided into paragraphs (and it is more visual).

After developing all the topics you want to talk about, you have to end the text. You have to do it simple, but it is very important, maybe the most important one because this last part will be the one that leaves a good or bad taste of mouth.

After writing your text, scan it and check if there are some mistakes. Correct them (if there are) and read it again if everything’s OK. Read it as many times as you need, and if you see that everything’s right you’ll have finished!

I hope this helps you so much with your writings. The only way to improve is practise, practice and practise (yeah, until you get bored!).

FAMOUS BRITISH COUPLES ( 2nd ESO )

Once again, we have made our project about
FAMOUS BRITISH COUPLES.

Our 2nd ESO students have searched information
about famous British people in history, literature, science,
humour, cinema, music...
and they have made a poster with one couple
and a dialogue with the other.

Here you have the result of their work.
It's been a really good job!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2018

CHRISTMAS TIME 🎄🎅 HAS ALREADY FINISHED
AND NOW IT'S TIME FOR A NEW YEAR 🎆🎇.

WE WISH YOU ALL A JOYFUL YEAR, FULL OF HAPPINESS.

That's why we leave here the photos of our 4th ESO students delivering their letters to the Wise Men.
Let all your wishes come true!

27/12/17
Hi,

Today I went to "La Fàbrica dels Reis Mags" that we have in Sant Andreu (Fabra i Coats) to send my letter to the Wise Men. I gave it to a Page and she gave me a (kind of) certificate, declaring that my letter was sent to the Wise Men. I also visited the  store, "magatzem", and I found my presents! It was a nice afternoon!

Here you have some photos!
Hope you enjoy your holidays,

Maria Maroto Amigó

Hi !!!
Today Julia and I have gone to the Corte Inglés, where we’ve found a page.
So, here’s our photo with a page who works for the 3 Wise Men😊 We wanted to take a photo with one of the Wise Men, however it’s impossible, they’re really really busy wrapping gifts and preparing everything for tomorrow.

Merry Xmas and a happy new year!!

Hi,
this 22nd of December I took a picture with Santa Claus, he was walking around and I decided to take a picture with him. I hope it is valid. I don't have the letter because I honestly hadn't gone for that.
